Mark Blakewood grew up with a passion for golf, playing junior golf through high school, attending college on a full golf scholarship and as a Captain of his collegiate team at Louisiana Tech. Mark became a PGA member in 1987 and learned under legendary North Florida PGA professionals at Gainesville Country Club and Plantation at Ponte Vedra where he worked with Bob & David Duval. He was a part of the first leadership team as Head PGA Golf Professional at the newly opened Deercreek Country Club in 1989, later moving up to General Manager. In 2001 he and several partners purchased Orange Park Country Club and Mark served as Head PGA Golf Professional, General Manager and part owner of the club. After the club was sold, he returned to his management and teaching roots at Gainesville Country Club as Head PGA Golf Professional and General Manager. He now consults on golf and club operations management and provides top flight PGA golf instruction to all levels of golfers ranging from beginners to the very advanced.
We offer two types of golf lessons: on the state-of-the-art HD simulator, or traditional lessons on the driving range. You choose the style that's most comfortable for you.
Golf instruction using a state of the art golf simulator at The Grove at Orange Park allows you to really drill down on the details and most basic golf "Fun-damentals" of your individual golf swing. The Advanced Computer Vision Technology used with these HD Golf simulators, combined with our keen golf knowledge, observation and understanding of your specific athletic capabilities will help you to better understand and simplify your basic golf swing "Fun-damentals". This Simulator is so accurate you can track and monitor your motion, swing and ball flight to 0.1 degrees. The 3D modeling is so detailed it’s like you’re on the course or driving range....but in a climate-controlled clubhouse and without having to worry about the weather, like those hot or rainy days that North Florida is famous for!
Sometimes you just want to feel the club and ball connect in real life, and that's where traditional lessons on the tee excel. The Grove has added a brand-new golf driving range behind the clubhouse where you'll use real clubs and balls to practice your swing.
